Aug 16, 2024 — Complaint re-inspection

Conditional

A follow-up to confirm complaint-related violations were fixed.

Coolers storing eggs, butter, and milk reached 61°F instead of required 41°F or below.

Key Findings

  • A 3-door cooling unit in the bakery prep area was holding temperature-controlled foods at 61°F when it should have been 41°F or below. The unit was tagged out of service and about 30 dozen eggs, 40 lbs of butter, and a gallon of milk were voluntarily discarded ($280 loss).
  • Broken and missing thermometers throughout the bakery prep cooling units prevented proper temperature monitoring.
  • Torn gaskets on the 3-door cooling unit allowed temperature loss and were ordered repaired.
  • Water-damaged ceiling tiles in prep areas and multiple burned-out bulbs in the bakery prep area required replacement.

Key findings are derived directly from the inspector's notes from the Chicago Department of Public Health. See the full violation notes below.
