Jun 21, 2022 — Food-poisoning complaint

Fail

Prompted by a report of someone getting sick after eating here.

Prep cooler reached 52°F, forcing discard of raw chicken, fish, crab, pasta, and dressing stored at unsafe temperatures.

Standout Inspection

We flagged this inspection for serious public health concerns.

Key Findings

  • A front prep cooler malfunctioned at 52°F instead of the required 41°F or below, causing multiple ready-to-eat and raw proteins to reach dangerous temperatures. All affected food was discarded.
  • Ice machine interior was heavily contaminated with black slime dripping directly into ice cubes used for human consumption.
  • Dishroom employee rinsed hands with water spray instead of proper handwashing, then handled clean dishes. Pizza worker touched face mask and continued handling dough without washing hands.
  • Clean dishes and glasses were stored on top of dining tables instead of being properly inverted and protected from contamination.

Key findings are derived directly from the inspector's notes from the Chicago Department of Public Health. See the full violation notes below.
