Nando's Peri Peri

Restaurant

949-953 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60607

Fulton Market

Mar 1, 2022 — Canvass inspection

Conditional

A routine, unannounced visit by a city health inspector.

Refrigerator malfunction allowed marinated chicken and multiple prepared foods to warm to unsafe temperatures; approximately 50 lbs of food was discarded.

Key Findings

  • Multiple temperature-controlled foods stored in prep cooler were between 44.7°F and 55.7°F when they must be at 41°F or below. Marinated chicken, arugula, hummus, cole slaw, mayo, cheese, tomatoes, and sweet potatoes all violated cold-holding requirements.
  • Prep cooler's ambient temperature was 56.1°F instead of the required 41°F or below, indicating equipment failure.
  • No employee health policies were on file documenting employees' responsibility to report foodborne illness, a priority foundation violation.
  • Hand-washing sink at bar prep area lacked required signage, and two women's bathroom hand sinks had improper water temperatures (70.2°F and 100°F instead of consistent 100°F minimum).

Key findings are derived directly from the inspector's notes from the Chicago Department of Public Health. See the full violation notes below.
